You Should Probably Toss That

I went through a complete overhaul of my beauty products this year.  I threw out somethings.  And I'm sure that you have stuff in your bathrooms or vanities that are sitting past their expiration date.  Below is a friendly reminder for you to go through your potions and goop.

 Definitely toss any products if
  •   it smells funny, strange, putrid
  •   it changed color since you first bought it
  •   its consistency has changed. if it has settled or separated into layers when it shouldn't

3 Rules of Work

1.   out of c lu tt er, find simplicity
2.   from dIscOrd, find harmony
3.   in the middle of difficulty, find the opportunity

Positive Thinking

Have you read The Secret?  It's about positive thinking.

Research shows that there is an actual connection between your mind and body.  If you continue to reaffirm your goals, you have the capacity to rewire your brain into achieving what you actually desire.  Maybe it works.  Maybe it doesn't, but it doesn't hurt to think positively.  Look forward to this year.  Do you remember what goals you set?

Sunblock. Just Do It.

I guess my approach to Makeup Mondays is to present what makeup/face products I would consider essential first.  Last week, I talked about chapstick.

The first thing is sunblock.  You don't need to be fancy about it.  I've been using this Neutrogena one for years.  It's not greasy.  It doesn't turn your skin a weird grayish color.  And it's under $10.  Aging is hard enough as it is, so protect your skin.  Use sunblock.  Just do it.

My Hair Goal

Ideally, my hair would look something like this.

I've already resolved to grow out my hair out this year.  But...

Become Your Own Role Model

I've always wanted a mentor or role model but I've never acted like one for anyone.  All right, maybe once I was but besides the age thing, I saw her as a peer.  I never felt like I was imparting great wisdom onto her.

Reading = Better Social Skills

"We are a species that needs and wants to understand who we are.  Sheep lice do not seem to share this longing, which is one reason why they write so little."
- Anne Lamott

You are so right Anne Lamott.  That is exactly the reason why I write.  My friends can confirm that I read a lot and am inquisitive by nature.  Yet, I still feel like I have so much to learn.  And in spite of all my reading, I don't understand why I sometimes act as foolishly as I do.  This struggle for understanding isn't a new endeavor either.  We've been trying to find meaning since Aristotle.

Chapstick Trial & Error

Even if you are the most low maintenance person in the world you probably use this product.

Chapstick.

Work in Progress

I am still playing around with the final look of this blog. Don't be surprised if you come back and things look a bit differently from day to day.

How to Set SMART Goals

Currently, I am reading good morning: 365 Positive Ways to Start Your Day by Brook Noel.
I started it January 1st and I've been consistently reading it, following the prompts, and answering questions. It has helped me start the day on the right foot by being more mindful.  I'll pick out the most enlightening or helpful post and share here on (Thoughtful) Thursday.  Positive vibes for one and all!

Introducing Wordy Wednesday

I purchased The Writer's Devotional  by Amy Peters last year and never finished the book.  So, I am starting all over again in 2015.

On Wednesdays, I'll share the best page from the week whether it is an exercise, a quote, or something helpful I learned.  I hope you all are interested in reading and writing too.

Welcome!

Hello there lovely peoples

This year I vowed to indulge my imagination.  I don't know what that will entail exactly because I'm interested in various things from art, literature, movies, makeup, and anything that sparkles.  sun over eden will be a place where i share about any of the above.  It's a place where I put aside my fears and embrace creativity and positivity.  Dabble with me.  We're in eden.
