Have a Great Day!

March 20, 2015

I'm sure that you've had your fair share of bad days.  So, when I read in an interview, that Ms. Noel stated that she's never had one, I was skeptical.  What she did since she was a child, was to stop and close her eyes to "start over" after a difficult situation.

Why have I never heard of this technique before?  Sometimes, a comment or a task that I didn't complete dashes my confidence and derails me.  But considering her approach, it's true, you can have bad moments, but why should you let that negativity linger and define the whole day?  Don't let one instance ruin the remainder of the 24 hours in your day.

We, like Ms. Noel, can start the day over anytime we choose  to.  Next time, a challenging or downright frustrating situation occurs, take some time to clear your mind of it.  (I find that forgiving the guilty party is a lot more helpful than reasoning why they may have done X or Y.  In fact, it's the only thing that helps me get over whatever awfulness happened.)  Anticipate a great rest of the day.  Hopefully, the day will get better, but if not, reset again.  Don't let someone or something rain on your parade.

How do you deal with bad days?

  2. It's so funny that you posted about this, because it's something I've been thinking about a lot lately. I'm trying to learn to be more mindful of my thoughts and feelings, trying to observe them and let them go, rather than judging them and hanging onto negative things.

I also like what you mentioned about forgiving instead of wondering at why someone did X or Y thing. It helps me to remind myself that, very often, the way that people act has more to do with themselves than it has to do with you.

  3. Oh, that's what happened. hehe no worries.

I even took a happiness class in college but it's a daily battle. I read somewhere that woman are always trying to understand why but yes, sometimes people take things out on others for no reason sometimes. I tell myself, "It's not about me" repeatedly.

I'm so glad someone else is finding all this helpful because I thought it was so novel.
